Whispers of Dragons

Chapter 1: Session 4 Over the marshes and Through the woods.
Chapter 1: Session 3 - Unlikely heroes on an adventure

Arriving back in Three Falls the party looked to off load the gear they had acquired and rest up fully before setting out to find the location described by Quartz. With Katrina’s help they where able to identify some of the items they had acquired. Stocking up for their journey they set off once again with a direction to go and little else. Following the trade roads for a while the party realized they where in need of a map and picked one up after encountering a few random hostiles on the road.

Entering into a swampier area near the river the party encountered an unusually dense growth of trees. Searching the area around it revealed a way into the grove but the thickness of the thicket growing there made passage by normal sized humans problematic. To solve this Angelo work some of his magic and made everyone the same size as Nya but even at that small size it was precarious entering the warren. Upon exiting they entered into what looked to be a corral of sorts for dire rats which where directed to attack by their kobold keepers. Demonstrating they where beginning to work better as a team and how inate abilities are just as good as magic they dispatched the rats and kobolds without anyone coming close to death.

After a quick scout of the area one kobold escaped to revealed a large marsh area and exhausted from their fight with the rats the party decide to retreat for the day and widen the path on their way out. After finding what they think is safe place to rest they do so.

Chapter 1: Session 2 - Suddenly Bears from the Ceiling

Making a third attempt into the caves the party was greeted by a welcoming committee of kobold warriors and a hobgoblin. Putting their martial and magic skill to good use they quickly dispatched their foes but not before Thatcher was seriously wounded by the hobgoblin’s longsword. Choosing to err on the side of caution the party retreated while Thatcher recovered, but not before Thatcher obtained a kobold head as a trophy. After a few days of recovery the party ventured back in to try and save Jordan (and get paid) and this time were able to get back to the hall of murder holes. While doing a thorough search for traps Nya came across a small door they hadn’t seen before. Being the only one small enough to fit through without squeezing she ventured in and dispatched a small group of Kobolds that where laying in wait.

Finally proceeding into the unknown area of the warren the party managed to avoid a couple traps before coming to an intersection that had a well lit room down one direction and darkness down the other. Feeling bold they send the pixie into the darkness where it is discovered that the hall ends in a room that contains another hobgoblin and two bugbears all fast asleep. Returning to the group a plot to dispatch them is hatched and Nya and Thatcher are dispatched to take care of them. Using stealth and a hand axe Thatcher quietly dispatched the hobgoblin while Nya and her bow proved to be just the right height to deliver an arrow to the head of each bugbear ensuring that neither would wake to cause problems.

Returning to the group Nya is sent ahead to scout towards the well lit room. What she found in there she wasn’t quite ready for, there in some mockery of a kitchen running a brigade of frantic kobolds was their boss Jordan Samsely along with his Sous chef and they appeared to be preparing a meal. A quick scan of the kitchen revealed two racks, each currently occupied by a child in positions that did not suggest they where alive. Reporting back the party decided to tender their resignations and put Jordan out of business. Knowing that the focus wouldn’t be on them till they attacked they stormed the kitchen and quickly dispatched the crew including their former employer who seemed a bit unhinged even by his standards.

Moving on our intrepid band of would be heroes came upon what would be the closest thing to a main hall for the kobolds. Taking advantage of the guard being distracted Nya loosed an arrow but was unable to drop the kobold and he let out a startled cry as he was skewered by her small arrow. getting blocked by a pair of kobold warriors a crossbow wielding kobold was able to score a nasty hit against Angelo knocking him unconscious. Thinking quickly the pixie pored one of the vials they had found earlier down his throat hoping it would be a potion that would revive him and not damage him further. Awakening as the potion healed all of his woulds he noticed that three of the kobolds where asleep or otherwise unconscious, while the third met its end on the blade of Thatcher’s large axe. An extensive search of the area and bodies revealed one regular locked door, one hidden locked door, and two keys. Opening the normal door first they discover the 50 remaining villagers after receiving thanks and praise on their rescue Gwydion and Nya are sent to check out the hidden door which is revealed to hide another passage down. Hoping for a quicker way out it is scouted only to find it goes to a meeting room that holds a table surrounded by 6 chairs. 5 the correct size for kobolds and one made for a slightly larger creature. off of this meeting room another regular door is found as well as a secret door. Opening the secret door the party finds a chest whose lock is quickly picked by the pixie. Inside is a fair amount of coin, a ring, a vial of liquid, and a stick of wood about 18 inches long. Emptying the chest into their packs and pockets they proceed to checkout the second door. On the other side of it are a single persons quarters that seems to be big enough for a medium sized creature with furniture of elvish origins. Also in this room is a book written in draconic and a shrine to a strange five headed lizard creature. Giving the book to Angelo to decipher later the party decides it is time to get the survivors out of there.

Sending Thatcher and Angelo ahead to “clean up” the kitchen they begin to make their way out of the warren. Being ever vigilant the pixie continues to search for traps when at the intersection coming from the kitchen she notices a lever. curious as to what it did she pulled it and suddenly two very hungry looking black bears drop from the ceiling and block the narrow corridor out. Not wanting to become the bears next meals they lure them to them. Nya manages to land a solid hit on the first bear while Arastina missed with her spell and almost paid dearly for it as the bear tore into her. Acting quickly both Thatcher and Gwydion manage to kill the bears and allow the party and surviving villagers to continue on.

Reaching the surface the villagers ended up carrying the dead bears out to use for food on the journey back to where their homes used to be. After a few days travel everyone arrives relatively safe in the ruined village and a few are sent to request aid from the capitol as they are the fist known survivors of one of these raids. Along the way Angelo is able to decipher most of the book they found and it is determined to be a coded book of target locations and possible bases. A day later they return having encountered a patrol on its way in. Heavily questioning the party they say it is probably best if they return with the patrol to the capitol, something the party was planning on doing anyway.

After about a week of traveling with the patrol, who had been suspicious of them to start with, the patrol begin to fall asleep. As the leader finally falls asleep Gwydion hears a voice next to him that he recognizes, it is his friend Quartz, who remains invisible while speaking just loudly enough for Gwydion, and eventually Nya, to hear. Explaining that the Seelie Court would like the party to investigate one of the location from the book. Introducing himself to the rest of the party, while still invisible, Quartz asks them to take on this job. Gwydion and Nya accept quickly and seem enthusiastic about it the other slightly less so fearing retribution from Taiidan for knocking out the patrol. Quartz tells them that he’ll take care of it and promises not to kill them. The location described is very close to the river that makes the boder with Kadesh. It is unknown what waits for them there but the Seelie Court apparently thinks they can handle it.

Chapter 1: Session 1 - Something's burning

Leaving the Pike River Inn just a few days ago the party continued their journey from the capital of Tiiadan, Drumish, to the hamlet of Maiden’s Valley after their boss traveled there as a prize for the tavern winning the Bi-Annual tavern brew contest last winter. As they are traveling the weather began to threaten a storm so they began to travel as fast as they could but it quickly became apparent that most of the party was not in the shape required to sustain the hustle but did manage to save off a little bit of time from their journey.

About a two days away from their destination Nya noticed a column of smoke in the direction of their travel. Not in any real hurry to find the cause the group continued on their regular pace. Coming upon the small hamlet they find that it was decimated and pretty much ransacked. The tavern they where to meet Jordan (their boss), and his sous at had been leveled but a search of the remains in the are did not reveal any to be him. Nya took a quick count of the dead and deduced that there where probably about 30+ survivors as there were not enough bodies around. Stashing the contents of the wagon and loading themselves in they began an attempt to track down the survivors. After many issues they came across a cavern dug out of the cliff side where the trail had lead them.

Very tentatively they entered the cavern and where greeted by many kobolds. Dispatching one group the party retreated to heal their wounds and try again the next day. finding the entrance abandoned they proceeded further down and encountered many various traps and hazards forcing them to retreat a second time. Will the third time be the charm in which they find the fate of their boss and the possible survivors.
